Hyd to be made model city, says Danam Hyderabad, Jan 1 (INN): Strangely the seat of the state headquarters on Saturday presented a colourful and festive atmosphere in the backdrop of a supposed political turmoil that may overtake the Kiran Kumar Reddy government on January 6, which is allegedly declared as a deadline by informed sources. The state Secretariat was abuzz with activity as Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, Mayor including the top brass converged at the C Block to formally greet their 'boss' Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and then turned back to complete an annual formality. This annual formality of course gave no scope for the commoner to figure in it in any manner.
Labour Minister Danam Nagender chose to address a press conference and conveyed his greetings and hoped that the New Year would herald a new beginning and attend good to all. He stated that an action plan has been drawn that would facilitate implementation of programmes to improve among others infrastructure, sanitation, better hygienic conditions and better water supply in order to shape Hyderabad as a model city in India.
In view of his intentions that the city could better serve as a destination for investors, the Chief Minister is rather working overtime to apply pressure on officers concerned to implement his 'scheme' to bring under focus the city as a 'model city', Mr Nagender revealed. This scheme, he said, is with a better face lift providing better facilities including stepping up the Metro Railway service to effect clearance of traffic which is increasing by the day.
Referring to the ongoing works during the 100 days, the Minister sought publicity cover to rectify any drawbacks for effective implementation as directed by the Chief Minister. He also sought the cooperation of the media to achieve their target in this regard as the government was determined to work for projecting the city as something unique, which is intended to keep pace with the growing competition.
Asked about the case relating to former chief minister K Rosaiah's involvement in the issue of a GO connected to a valuable land at Ameerpet, Mr Nagender clarified that the former chief minister was in no way to be blamed as he issued orders specifically as per the Court's direction. He also made it clear that he himself was a signatory to it. 'Mr Rosaiah's action was subject to the Court's direction.' 'He was not at fault,' said the Minister. 'Therefore there was no need to specifically blame the former chief minister in this respect,' Mr Nagender stated.
Following a petition filed by an advocate Mohanlal, the ACB Court passed orders on December 27, directing the ACB Director to report to the Court by January 28. As against this, the High Court, replying to another petition filed by one Satyendranath, shown as fifth accused, stayed the order of the ACB court on Friday.
