Seven killed in road accidents Hyderabad, Jan 2 (INN): At least seven people were killed and five others suffered grievous injuries in separate road accidents which were reported from three districts of the state on Sunday. In the first instance, a car, which had plunged into a canal along with its three occupants, was retrieved at Toopran near Siddipet. Strangely, the police did not know that the car had plunged into the canal. It was discovered when they had tried to retrieve a lorry which itself had plunged into the canal. Police believe that the car had crashed into the lorry and both the vehicles had plunged into the canal.
According to Inspector Srinivas Reddy, the car was discovered under the lorry as it was being retrieved from the canal. Mr Srinivas Reddy revealed that the bodies of the car's occupants were identified as Venkatesh (30), his wife Kalavathi (26) and their driver Rama Krishna (32). Police in their preliminary investigations came to know that victims were on their way to Sangareddy when they went missing on Tuesday night. Policemen have shifted the victims to government hospital for autopsies after registering a case Under Section 304 (A) IPC.
In another mishap, two B-tech students were killed on the spot, when their motorcycle hit a tree while taking a sharp turn at Kottagutta village, Atamakur mandal in Warangal district. According to Sub-Inspector Satish, the victims were identified as Gopati Ajay and Sanakonda Dileep Kumar. Both of them believed to be around 20 year of age and were studying second year in NIT engineering college in Warangal.
In yet another mishap, at least two people were killed and three others suffered grievous injuries when a speeding Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation Bus smashed into a car while taking negotiating a sharp bend near CK Palli in Anantapur district on the National Highway Number 44. According to CK Palli Sub-Inspector Prasad, the incident took place when the bus rammed into the car at a high speed. Mr Prasad identified the victims as Vishvam (72), Srinivasulu (around 50). They both died on the spot. The car driver Krishna and two more persons who are yet to be identified persons have suffered grievous injuries. The victims were believed to be the residents of Hyderabad and were on their way to the city from Bangalore. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
