City to host Health Ministers' Conference on Jan 12 Hyderabad, Jan 11 (INN): Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will inaugurate the two-day Health Ministers conference to be held at Park Hotel on January 12. Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad would preside over Health Ministers conference. The conference would review the measures to control communicable diseases, cardiovascular diseases and stroke, besides medical education.
The government is planning to implement Rs 1600 crore health scheme and would be launched on pilot basis in 100 districts in the country. Under the scheme, tests would be conducted for identifying diabetes, cardio-vascular and cancer ailments in youth and illiterate women and suggest measures for tackling them.
The conference would also review implementation of national programmes and discuss priorities for the 12th 5-year plan. The conference will also consider a proposal to reformulate the financing of reproductive and child health services based on results and performance based so as to ensure all key partners - the beneficiaries, the health providers and the health facility managers are all equally given incentives for optimal outcome.
APSACS Project Director R V Chandravadan has been designated as the Secretary-General of the conference to coordinate the meeting. Dr M S Srinivasa Rao, state TB Control Officer, will be the nodal officer. HM and FW Assistant Secretary Uma Maheswara Rao will also help coordinate at the secretariat level. About 25 Health Ministers from various states, 40 secretaries of health and medical education are expected to participate in the conference.
