City police nabs alleged Manipuri terror operator
Hyderabad, Jan 12 (INN): The Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested Abdul Latif, an alleged terror operator belonging to People United Liberation Front (PULF), a banned organisation in Manipur, and recovered five live rounds of 0.45 caliber from his possession. According to police, Abdul Latif (30), hailing from Irong Chesaba, Mayang Imphal, Thoubal district, Manipur, was arrested at Balanagar after they found definite clues.
He has been working as security guard (Adhunik Security and Management Services)at SMR complex, Balanager since October 2010. Abdul Latif earlier worked as a caretaker of Annapurna lodge, Bowenpally for 5 months. Police said that during the preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that Abdul Latif was studied till 12th in Mayang Imphal, Thoubal district, Imphal in 2003. He earned his livelihood by running a video parlour in Imphal for one and half year (2004-2005).
He voluntarily joined in People United Liberation Front (PULF) during the year 2006, a banned organisation in Manipur. One Belan, a Manipur Muslim youth of Imphal facilitated him to meet Abdul Kalam Azad alias Azad, the then chairman of PULF outfit. Abdul Latif was active in the outfit from 2006-2009.
He was arrested on three occasion for his links with PULF in the year December 2007, April 2008and February 2009 at Dimapur under the Arms Act and was in custody between Feb and May 2009. Arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession and he was convicted.
After his release from jail in May 2009 from Dimapur, Abdul Latif came to Agartala, Tripura and intruded into Bangladesh through Comilla border, at the instance of Abdul Rehman, younger brother of Abdul Kalam Azadin May 2009. He was in Dhaka, Cox Bazaar, Mirpur and Chittagong from May 2009 to January and worked for organisation.
Abdul Latif admitted that he is still continuing as member of PULF (Keshorji)Faction since August 2009 after differences cropped up with Abdul Rehman as the latter threatened to kill him. Kershorji faction group is presently being led by Mohammed Nasir Khan, based in Assam. Abdul Latif revealed that he had come to Hyderabad to seek shelter, raise funds and procure arms and ammunition for his outfit, the police said.
