Chain snatcher nabbed, Rs 20 lakh property recovered Hyderabad, Jan 25 (INN): Mahankali police on Tuesday nabbed a notorious criminal accused of being involved in snatching of chains and mobile phones apart from lifting of automobiles, and recovered gold ornaments weighing 87.5 tolas along with two motorcycles from him. The police at his instance also arrested on person for buying the stolen property from him. This man has been identified as Saleem.
According to police the arrest of Syed Hussain, also called as 'Lamba' came after they were tipped off. Two of his accomplices, Dastageer and Khalifa are absconding. Hussain is a resident of Jahanuma and is stated to be a car driver by profession. He had earlier been arrested by the Rajendranagar Police for his involvement in buying stolen cell phones and also by the Nampally Police for snatching mobile phones.
He had also been arrested last May 2010 by the Sanjeevareddy Nagar Police for committing 109 snatching offences in different places of twin cities and Cyberabad along with his associates and released from jail in the end of July, 2010. After his release, Hussain resumed his criminal activities as he was habituated to leading a lavish lifestyle.
The accused, along with his accomplices used to snatch gold chains from the necks of women in different areas of twin cities. They had also lifted two motorcycles. They disposed off the stolen gold chains with the help Saleem. The recovered property is worth about Rs 20 lakh. Police said that efforts are on to nab the absconding accused Dastagir and Akheelduddin.
