Sexual harassment forces woman to commit suicide Hyderabad, Jan 25 (INN): A woman, who sustained burns after she set herself on fire after her brother-in-law forced her to satisfy his sexual desire, died under the Osmania University police station limits late on Monday night.According to Sub inspector R Shiva Kumar, the victim has been identified as A Indramma (29), wife of late Ashok, a resident of M R Nagar, OU Campus.
The victim was staying alone along with her daughter since her husband expired. Her brother-in-law Giri often came to her house and started to harass her to satisfy his sexual desire and threatened her kick her out of the house if she did not oblige.
On Monday evening, Giri came to house in drunken state and asked her to fulfill his desire. However, she bluntly rejected on this. He abused her in vulgar language and demanded that she immediately vacate the house. In a fit of rage, she poured kerosene and set herself on fire. She was rushed to Gandhi Hospital but died while undergoing treatment on Monday night. Police register a case under Section 306 IPC.
Woman killed for dowry
Hyderabad, Jan 25 (INN): A woman was murdered by her husband under Alwal police station limits. According to Alwal Inspector K Srinivas Rao, the victim has been identified as Pasala Jeevan Jyothi (22), wife of Balraj, a resident of Mohan Rao Nagar, Turkyamjal, Ranga Reddy district.
Jyothi had married Balraj four years ago. After marriage, Balraj along with his mother and sister harassed Jyothi for additional dowry. Six days back Balraj shifted his house to Balajinagar. On Monday afternoon, the body of the deceased was found at the house in Balajinagar.
Police suspect Balraj strangulated his wife and smashed her head with boulder before fleeing away from the spot. Police registered a case under Section 302 IPC and body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem.
Woman kills self after domestic tiff
Hyderabad, Jan 25 (INN): A woman hanged herself after a quarrel with her husband over a petty issue under the Kukatpally police station limits on Tuesday morning. According to Inspector K Srinivasa Rao, the victim has been identified as P Prasuna (25), wife of P Kalyan Kumar, a resident of Sangeethanagar, Kukatpally. The couple were married eight years ago and have two children.
Mr Srinivasa Rao said that the fight between the couple took place after Kalyan received a phone call from Kurnool informing him of the death of a relative. After he received the call, Kalyan went back to sleep. Mentally depressed over her husband not heading to Kurnool, Prasuna hanged herself to ceiling fan with a saree and ended her life. Police registered a case under Section 174 CRPC and body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for PME.
