GHMC to monitor illegal constructions through software Hyderabad, Jan 27 (INN): The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation would use software based on GPRS, GPS and GIS technology, and mobile phones to identify and pinpoint any illegal constructions going on in the city henceforth. Data collected would be utilized by the Off ' Site Real Time Monitoring OSRT system which was launched the Corporation recently.
Revealing details about the system, Additional Commissioner (Planning) Rajender Prasad said that the system would be used to prevent unauthorized constructions or deviations to the sanctioned plan. The system would also help the GHMC to prepare the inventory of all ongoing constructions.
Apart from the construction works, the OSRT will also monitor sanitation, garbage dumping, street lighting, parks and maintenance works. The GHMC officials will be given 331 mobile phones take snaps and feed the data to the central server to keep the OSRT updated.
Mr Rajender Prasad said that zonal city planners are taking the photographs of all ongoing constructions through OSRT system. While taking photographs, they are indicating the details of the building viz, whether the builder under construction is permitted or not, deviations if any.
The GHMC has decided to complete this exercise by the end of January and this data will become the baseline data and will be updated once in every 3 months. Based on this baseline data, the field staff will take penal action on the unauthorized constructions and deviations and the same will be monitored regularly for strict enforcement rules.
Similarly for issue of building permissions, the ACPs of head office are taking the photographs of the sites through OSRT system on three variables--approach road, surrounding details and topography of the site which are being seen by the building committee members. These photographs would be more useful in disposing the building applications.
Similarly for issue of occupancy certificates, ACPs of head office are taking the photographs of building through OSRT system on following variables--approach road, all round setbacks, parking area, terrace floor, usage of building and height of the building. These photographs will be used for taking decision on the issue of occupancy certificates.
