OU students rally in support of KU mates Hyderabad, Jan 28 (INN): Demanding introduction of Telangana Bill in the Budget Session of Parliament, students affiliated to Osmania University Joint Action Committee on Friday took out a massive rally from Arts College to Tarnaka road. Raising `Jai Telangana' slogans, the students marched till the Tarnaka road.
The rally was brought to a halt by the police who were stationed there. The protestors then entered into heated arguments, demanding that the rally be allowed to proceed further. The police however refused to allow them to pass. As the arguments grew in intensity, the police took a few of them in custody and shifted them to the police station.
The students' demanded that the elected representatives from Telangana resign from their posts so that pressure is mounted on the Centre to introduce the T Bill. The student leaders also condemned police action on students of Kakatiya University in Warangal, who boycotted Post Graduate examinations earlier in the day. Following the incident, the police strength has been bolstered with additional forces to prevent any untoward incidents.
