AISF seeks safeguards for TVU students from US Hyderabad, Jan 28 (INN): Demanding action against Tri-Valley University (TVU) in the United States, which has been embroiled in a case of alleged immigration fraud, activists of All India Students Federation on Friday staged a protest at US Consul General Office in Begumpet and urged the government to save the bright career of hundreds of Indian students, particularly from Andhra Pradesh, from being ruined.
Raising slogans against the American Immigration authorities, the activists tried to barge into the Consulate premises. However, the police prevented them from doing so by taking into custody.
With the shut-down of TVU, Communist Party of India city general secretary Sudhakar said the fate of thousands of students is hanging in balance and appealed to US government to save their academic year by accommodating them in other universities.
AISF city secretary Uma Mahesh said the students have paid lakhs of rupees for obtaining visa and work permit in the US universities. He urged the government to take steps to protect the interests of students. If the government failed to protect the interests of students, the AISF will intensify its agitation, he warned.
