Muslim Maha Garjana for T State held Hyderabad, Jan 30 (INN): Prominent intellectuals were among hundreds of youth and children who participated in the Muslim 'Maha Garjana' organized at Indira Park on Sunday to express solidarity with separate Telangana statehood protagonists. Youth and women from the community formed a human chain and shouted 'Jai Telangana' slogans at the Maha Garjana.
Reacting to the Justice Srikrishna Committee's Report which stated that the Muslim community is not in favour of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, Maha Garjana convenor Hameed Mohamed Khan said that this was not true. He said that Muslims in Telangana are actively taking part in various agitations for Telangana since they first resounded in the 1970s. Likewise, the Muslims are active participants in the agitations taking place this time around, Mr Khan said.
Mr Khan added that the Movement for Peace and Justice along with other organisations will try to meet Home Minister P Chidambaram on behalf of one crore Muslims of Telangana and submit a memorandum to him, calling for bifurcation of the state. Muslim Joint Action Committee convener Shahbaz Ali Khan said all Muslims wing of Telangana had held protest meetings in the 23 districts for mounting pressures on the Centre to table a Bill in Parliament.
