TRS promises Muslims Dy CM, 12 pc quota Hyderabad, Jan 31 (INN): The area in the immediate vicinity of Azam Function Hall in Azampura in the Old City of Hyderabad turned pink for the day on Monday as Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao landed there, as part of his attempt to galvanise Muslims to support his party. Addressing the gathering, KCR said that traditionally, the Muslim community in Telangana was independent minded, having had taken the middle path and refusing to go along with theory of a United Andhra Pradesh.
He said that the leaders from Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema region however sneaked in their plans of usurping the wealth of Telangana by first agreeing to respect the 'Gentleman's Agreement' and then gradually imposing their will on the Telanganaites.
The TRS chief alleged that the Seemandhra leaders have robbed the rich Muslims and other Telanganaites and destroyed the rich culture of the region, the people's free spirit and their heritage. KCR reminded that the budget of Andhra Pradesh showed a meager Rs 20 crore deficit when Telangana was merged with the state on linguistic basis, but has now escalated to uncontrollable levels.
The TRS president also promised that the first deputy chief minister of Telangana will be a Muslim, apart from three to four Cabinet Ministers from the community. He also promised that a resolution would be passed in the Telangana Assembly which would provide 12 per cent reservation to Muslims.
