Man nabbed for stealing Rs 20 lakh Hyderabad, Feb 2 (INN): Ramgopalpet police on Wednesday revealed that their officers have nabbed a man who had stolen Rs 20 lakh from his place of employment within a matter of 10 hours. According to the police, a complaint was filed at the police station on February 1 that Rs 20 lakh has been stolen from the office of Sanjay Chemicals India Private Limited, a Pharma company situated at Masetty Plaza, Penderghast Road, Secunderabad.
The money had been brought from the Head Office of the company located in Mumbai on January 31. A case was registered and investigation taken up by the Inspector V Raja Rao, due to the gravity of the offence. As part of the investigation, Police teams visited the scene of offence and preliminary investigation was carried out. The visuals from the Close Circuit camera, installed in the office, were examined, which revealed that on February 1, one of the staff members, Santhosh Bahadur, had entered the office at 8.53 am, opened the table drawer and took away the cash.
Based on the information, the Inspector formed 6 teams consisting of Police Constables and staff members of Sanjay Chemicals who could identify the accused. These teams were dispatched to Shamshabad Airport; Nampally, Kachiguda and Secuderabad railway stations; and Jubilee and MGBS Bus stations. These teams were briefed regarding their duties and to keep a watch on flight, trains and buses going towards North India. Apart from this, scientific aids to investigation were incorporated in the task.
One of the teams deployed at Nampally Railway station, led by constable S Ravi Kumar, at about 7 pm, was able to identify and catch the accused Santhosh Bahudur. Rs 19.99 lakh was recovered from him possession. After stealing the cash, Santhosh Bahudur went to Monda market where he had bought a bag and transferred the cash. From there he went to Nampally Railway Station and bought a train ticket for Dakshin Express to Delhi. This is where he was caught. The whole operation from the registration of case; visit to the scene of crime and preliminary investigation; monitoring the CC Cameras; catching the accused and the recovery of the stolen cash was completed in 9.5 hours, the police said.
