Activists storm Wakf Board, demand action on Court orders Hyderabad, 3 Feb (INN): Over a 100 activists, led by Deccan Wakf Protection Society president Osman-al- Hajri on Thursday stormed the Muslim Wakf Board office at Nampally, demanding that the officials protect the Muslim properties under its safeguard in and around Hyderabad. Mr Al-Hajri took exception to the lethargic attitude of the Wakf Board authorities and alleged that owing to their unwillingness to take action against the land grabbers, the Wakf properties are being encroached upon in the state.
The activists stormed into the Wakf Board and raised slogans against the Chief Executive Officer and other board members. They shouted, 'Corrupt Wakf Board members Bhagao, Wakf Properties Bachao.' Mr Al-Hajri pointed out that a plot measuring about a 1,000 square yards in which the Azizia caf' is housed at Nampally has been identified one of the Wakf properties. The property is yet to be taken over by the Wakf Board, despite Court directives.
Mr Mr Al-Hajri said that this is one example of the lethargy of the Wakf officials. He warned that if the property is not taken over by the Board within the next 48 hours, the owner of Azizia caf' will have to face the wrath of the activists. The protestors also issued an ultimatum stating that they would raze the Wakf property located at Nampally to the ground within the 48 hours if the Wakf Board fails to take over its control. The protestors alleged that the owner of the Azizia Hotel are related to the Wakf Board Member Syed Shah Zaheer Ali. This was the reason that the matter has been put in cold storage, they said.
