Lot of opportunity to serve Telugu community: NATA Princeton, NJ: Mr. A.V.N. Reddy, President of North American Telugu Association (NATA) clarified on the number of Telugu Associations. In a message send to the Telugu community leaders and NATA members, he mentioned that "some may rightfully question, why we need another Telugu organization". "With all due respect our answer is, we have close to 400,000 Telugus in the USA and 80 million back home in Andhra Pradesh. Every organization including ours will have plenty of opportunities to serve Telugus here and back home. We are fortunate to have hundreds of volunteers who are eager and willing to offer their services to serve the community, this organization will provide avenue to fulfill these volunteers' wishes.", Mr. AVN explained.
He explained how NATA came forward to help the Trivalley affected students. He said that NATA is coming up with plans to educate and advise students coming to USA from India. One of the suggestions is to take a minimum of $100,000 term life insurance policy. The cost of the insurance for $100,000 will be very less but helps in a big way in case of any accident, violent crime severe disease. And NATA has plans to provide counseling services for new arrivals.
Help local community here in USA by offering small services like provide clothing to homeless, participate in food bank and providing lunch services on special occasions. 'Call Doctor', "Call Attorney' type phone line services.
Apart from providing services to the NRIs, back home in Andhra Pradesh, NATA plans to arrange 'NATA Seva Days' in various parts of the state and provide services such as health camps, eye camps, vaccination drives and also support local arts. Seek sponsors to provide basic facilities in villages like safe drinking water facilities, building primary schools, homes for poor, building roads etc. Promote Telugu culture and traditions to 2nd generation kids, who were born and raised here by arranging a youth conference and other facilities, where they can meet and get to know each other.
"The best example is, Dr. Prem Reddy from California has under taken a charitable project in his village in Nelloor district to build roads, schools and homes for poor. First phase of this project, $500,000 budget is being funded through NATA", AVN Reddy said.
NATA also announced first bi-annual mega conference in Houston on June 29th, 30th and July 1st, 2012 weekend.
