Special teams to check World Cup betting: AK Khan Hyderabad, Feb 7 (INN): Hyderabad Police Commissioner AK Khan on Monday said that the city police will form special teams to track and nab any bettors who would like to use the forthcoming Cricket World Cup to make money illegally. Speaking to INN, Mr Khan said that the special teams will monitor various pubs, hotels, restaurants and lodges located in twin cities which organize special screenings of matches. Apart from these, the teams would also monitor unusual activities, particularly during the World Cup.
The top cop warned that anyone found to be indulging in betting or gambling will not be spared. He said that stringent action would be taken against the bettors. Mr Khan further revealed that a press conference would be called shortly to provide more details. The Cricket World Cup is scheduled to be kicked off on February 19 in the sub-continent. The quadrangular event would witness 14 teams vying to capture glory.
