Devotional Musical Event at Sai Mandir on Feb 10th North Brunswick, NJ: Sai Mandir in North Brunswick, NJ announced a devotional musical event with Guruji Surendra and Manoj Lalani on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 7:30 pm. This is a free event and all are invited.
Guruji Surendra Katthula is the Founder of Sai Mandir Temple and Director of SwarSaagar, a Center for Performing Arts, offering classes in Hindustani Classical Music.
Guruji received intensive training in Hindustani Classical music under eminent gurus like Pandit M.S. Pendse, Pandit V.U.Rajurkar, Guruji Radhakrishna Murthy and Pandit G.N.Dantale. Guruji with his unparelleled dedication and incessant practice became "SANGEET VISHARAD" in Hindustani vocal in the year 1969. He had unique opportunity of being a supporting vocalist to world famous distinguished artists like Ustad Amir Khan, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Pandit Kumar Gandharva, Rajguru Basvaraj and Pandit Dinker Kaikani. With Hindustani classical music grounding, Guruji Surendra has moulded his voice into singing Bhajans, Ghazals, Qawali and Folk songs.
He has given many performances of Hindustani vocal, ghazals, and bhajans in different parts of the United States. Guruji has been practicing Yoga for over 40 years and he is a holder of Post-graduate Deploma in Advanced Yoga Science and Therapy from Kundalini Yoga Research Institute, INDIA. He is a E-RYT 500 Yoga Alliance of North America Certified Teacher and teaches Yoga in several Fitness Centers and Adult Health Care Centers in New Jersey.
Manoj Lalani is a senior Tablist who has been playing tabla for past 40 years. He started learning tabla at the age of 8. He took training from Guruji and also Shri Ashok Godbole. Besides Tabla, Manoj plays Dholak, Dhol, Electronic auto rythms with ease. He gave many performances in different parts of America besides performing in India.
