Elderly get 'faint' whiff of RB awaiting CM Hyderabad, Feb 8 (INN): The rising intensity of the sun on Tuesday took its toll on two aged persons who had made their way to the Racha Banda programme chaired by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at Borabanda. A 78-year-old woman, Nagamma fainted at the venue after sitting in the sun, waiting for the Chief Minister to arrive.
Another elderly man, C Ramulu, too suffered the same fate. The non-availability of drinking water at the venue contributed to the plight of the poor people, who had made their way there, hoping that they would be provided Ration Cards and pensions. Most of the people who had gathered at Borabanda returned back empty handed and full of frustration. Their frustration stemmed from the fact that the Chief Minister distributed 14 ration cards and 83 pensions, while thousands of those who attended hoped to get some relief. Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy has announced Rs 5 crores rupees for the development of the Borabanda surroundings as well as asked the concerns to ensure sewerage and other facilities to the residents.
The Chief Minister also went on foot on the streets and interacted with the locals. He assured them that the government will soon set up a Degree and Junior College, a Police Station, E-Seva Center and other facilities in the area. The residents however insisted that the administration first ensure that the sewerage lines which often overflow should be repaired and a Police Station be set up in the area. After the interaction with locals, the Chief Minster asked authorities to take immediate steps in this regard.
