Advocates seek withdrawal of cases, meet HM Hyderabad, Feb 9 (INN): Demanding lifting of cases against their colleagues, a group of advocates from Telangana region staged a dharna at the Secretariat on Wednesday. Assuring the agitating advocates, Handloom and Weavers' Welfare Minister P Sankar Rao urged them to call off their protest and not to agitate as their demand would be met. He also assured them that an amicable solution would be found.
The advocates pointed out that cases were booked against their colleagues recently for protesting against certain appointments of Judges in the High Court and in the Ranga Reddy Court. As a sequel to this, the Telangana advocates regrouped and demonstrated at the Secretariat entrance for redressal of their grievance. Several courted arrest. The protesting advocates later met Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy, who assured to support their demand for withdrawal of cases foisted by the police.
