Fire in Lazer blades factory destroys property worth around Rs 3 cr Hyderabad, Feb 13 (INN): Fire ravaged through a factory in the Balanagar Industrial Development Area in the city early on Sunday morning, destroying property worth crores of rupees. According to Sub-Inspector Gangaram, flames were detected at the Malhotra Lazer Factory, which manufactures razor blades, at around 7 AM on Sunday.
The fire tenders were informed and they managed to bring the flames under control by around 10 AM. Mr Gangaram stated that preliminary inquiries suggest that the blaze may have been triggered off by a short-circuit. Investigations are on, he added.
According to sources, the fire caused extensive damage to some machines which manufactured the razor blades. Conservative estimates put the loss at around Rs three crore, but these are not official figures. Fire tenders from Balanagar and Sanathnagar were pressed into service to douse the blazing flames. Fortunately there were no casualties due to the fire.
