Mother's scolding drives student to suicide Hyderabad, Feb 17 (INN): An Intermediate student committed suicide after her mother scolded her when she was found with a cell phone with her under the Lalaguda police station limits. According to Sub-Inspector S Ranga Swamy, victim B Laxmi Prasanna (17), a student of Sri Chaitanya Junior College of Tarnaka took the extreme step after her mother scolded her when she discovered the student having a mobile phone.
Mr Ranga Swamy said that the vague explanation that she had found the phone on a road while on way to college led to her mother casting doubt on the girl. The resultant scolding made the girl depressed enough to douse kerosene and set herself alight. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died while undergoing treatment late on Wednesday night. Police registered a case under section 174 CRPC
Dowry demand drives woman to suicide
Hyderabad, Feb 17 (INN): A Woman committed suicide due to dowry harassment under the Kushaiguda police station limits. According to Sub-Inspector P Saidulu, J Rajeshwari (19) wife of Chinna, committed suicide by hanging herself with the help of a saree from ceiling fan after she was mentally and physically harassed for additional dowry.
Rajeshwari had got married to Chinna in November 2010. Her parents had given Rs 1.5 lakh in cash, apart from three tolas gold ornaments at the time of the marriage. After 3 months, her husband started to mentally and physically harass her for additional dowry. The sustained harassment drove the girl to resort to the extreme step, Mr Saidulu said. Police registered a case and investigation is on.
Man falls from moving auto, dies
Hyderabad, Feb 17 (INN): A private employee accidentally fell down from a moving auto-rickshaw and died due to the injuries received under Karkhana police station limits late on Wednesday. According to Sub-Inspector G Santosh Kumar, D Shravan Kumar (23) son of D Sundar Rao, a resident of Papi Reddy Nagar, Jagatgirigutta was returning home after attending a function when the mishap took place.
He had boarded an auto-rickshaw when he slipped and fell from the moving vehicle near Gunrock Function Hall, Karkhana. He fell on stones lying by the side of the road and received severe injuries. He was shifted to NIMS Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment late on Wednesday night. Police registered a case and body shifted to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem.
Mandal Engineer in ACB net
Hyderabad, Feb 17 (INN): A Mandal engineer was trapped by sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday. According to the ACB Officials, N Hanuma Naik, Mandal Engineering Officer, Parigi (M), Anantpaur district was caught red handed in the office of MPDO, Parigi when he demanded and accepted the bribe amount of Rs 6,000 from the complainant for doing an official favour of processing work bill of the complainant related to the renovation of Library Building at Parigi. Both hand fingers of accused officer answered positive in chemical test. The bribe amount was recovered from the right hand of accused officer. The AO was arrested and being produced before the ACB Court, Hyderabad.
