T Advocates protest against JP Hyderabad, Feb 18 (INN): Demanding that Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan resign, advocates from Telangana region on Friday made a bid to storm the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly. Their attempt was however foiled by the three-tier security ring around the Assembly. Talking to media persons outside the Assembly, Advocates JAC convenor C Sri Ranga Rao stated that Dr Narayan must resign as his remarks have hurt the sentiments of the people across Telangana. 'We demand that Dr Narayan resign from his MLA post since his remarks are against the Telangana people,' Mr Ranga Rao stated.
Later, the protesting advocates burnt an effigy depicting the Lok Satta Party president in front of the AP State Museum which is located on the Assembly premises. The 'ceremonial' burning of the effigy led to the traffic movement being stalled for an hour and a resultant traffic jam.
After their 'fury' against Dr Narayan was abated with the flames of the effigy, the advocates boarded a State Road Transport Corporation bus (9 M), bound towards Sanathnagar. They demanded that the bus drop them off to the Nampally Courts, where their protest had begun. Nampally police station Inspector Sridhar too boarded the bus to ensure its safety.
