Mega Lok Adalat in Secunderabad inaugurated Hyderabad, Feb 19 (INN): High Court Judge Justice B Prakasha Rao on Saturday inaugurated a 'Mega Lok Adalath on the premises of the City Civil Courts, Secunderabad. Metropolitan Sessions Judge and Chairman, Metropolitan Legal Services Authority G Shyam Prasad, AP State Legal Services Authority Member-Secretary S Ravi Kumar and Hyderabad Police Commissioner AK Khan were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Prakasha Rao stressed the importance of quick disposal of the cases in the interest of natural justice. He also requested all the Judicial Officials to popularize the importance of Legal Aid programmes, legal literacy programmes, and pre litigation facilities among the people in the interest of justice with the support of important Departments like Police and Revenue, etc.
Mr AK Khan appealed the public to have an amicable settlement of petty offences/ disputes in general and family disputes in particular as was the case in the good olden days wherein Village Sangams/Assembly used to settle such disputes among them, by the village elders, so that both the parties will not go to the Courts and will not waste their valuable money and time. He has also appealed the litigant parties to utilize the 'Lok Adalath programmes to have a quick disposal of the cases and to reduce the work load of Courts so as to concentrate more and important /sensitive cases.
In the Mega Lok Adalat, 12 Police Stations of North Zone, Karkhana, Mahankali, Market, Marredpally, Begumpet, Bollaram, Bowenpally, Trimugherry. Gopalpuram. Lalaguda, Tukaramgate and Chilkalguda and Gandhi Nagar, Ramgopalpet Police Stations of Central Zone were attended. A total of 205 cases ended in compromise and settlements reached out of court. The cases that are compromised on Saturday were of petty theft cases, road accidents, simple hurt cases, dowry harassment cases, threatening and criminal intimidation, tresspass cases, excise cases etc.
