Suspecting fidelity, man burns wife alive Hyderabad, Feb 19 (INN): Suspecting fidelity of his wife, a man poured kerosene and set her ablaze under Bhongir police station limits. According to Bhongir police, Perur Naveena (25) wife of Papa Rao was a resident of Tarakaram Nagar in Bhongir. Papa Rao had started suspecting his wife's character for some days and this had led him to seek succor in alcohol. On Thursday afternoon Papa Rao's suspicion was further boosted by the liquor he had consumed. This led him to douse his hapless wife with kerosene and set her alight. Naveena was rushed to Gandhi Hospital in a 108 ambulance where her struggle for life ended late on Friday night. Police registered a case under section 302 IPC and case is under investigation
Acute pain drives 14-yr-old student to suicide
Hyderabad, Feb 19 (INN): A 14-year-old student committed suicide due to stomach pain under Shamirpet police station limits late on Friday evening. According to Inspector Narendar Reddy, Desam Harini, daughter of Balraj was a ninth standard student and a resident of Shamirpet, Ranga Reddy district. Intense stomach ache led Harini to pour kerosene and set herself alight late on Friday evening. She was rushed to Gandhi Hospital where the doctors' efforts to save her went in vain. She passed away late on Friday night. Police registered a case under section 174 CRPC and handed over her body to her grieving parents after postmortem.
Man dies in hit-and-run incident
Hyderabad, Feb 19 (INN): A 40-year-old man died in a road mishap under Sanathnagar police station limits late on Friday. According to Inspector G Basawa Reddy, Lingala Ramesh (40) son of Anjaiah and a resident of Mohan Nagar, Musheerabad was crossing the road at Bharath Nagar when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle which was coming from the direction of Kukatpally. The impact threw him to the ground, leaving him dead on the spot. Police registered a case under section 304A.
Labourer curing transformer pedestal dies of shock
Hyderabad, Feb 19 (INN): A labourer died on electric shock under Miyapur police station limits late on Friday evening. According to Sub Inspector G Srinivas, E Devender Reddy (30) son of Venkat Reddy and a resident of Srinivasa Nagar, Jagatgirigutta was 'curing' a platform on which an electrical transformer was installed. The platform was built two days ago. Suddenly he received an electric shock and fell down. Devender Reddy was shifted to Gandhi Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment late on Friday night. Police registered a case under section 174 CRPC.
