Police thwart T lawyers' bid to picket Raj Bhavan
Hyderabad, Feb 21 (INN): The police on Monday arrested Telangana lawyers when they tried to lay siege to the Raj Bhavan demanding introduction of Telangana Bill in the Budget Session of Parliament. The police foiled the lawyers' attempts to picket the Raj Bhavan and took them into custody on Necklace Road, Khairatabad Flyover and Raj Bhavan Road.
Earlier, the police asked the hotels, shops and business establishments to shut down their shops as a precautionary measure in wake of the threat by lawyers to picket the Raj Bhavan. Following the directions of police, the business community closed their shops voluntarily.
The police also intensified their bandobust on the Raj Bhavan Road as a precautionary measure and to prevent untoward incidents. Earlier, the lawyers obstructed the convoy of former chief minister K Rosaiah at Punjagutta circle. They also staged a dharna there.
