Council polls: Police permission must for meetings Hyderabad, Feb 25 (INN): City Commissioner of Police AK Khan in his capacity as Additional District Magistrate of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad on Friday said that any meetings, processions or rallies in the interest of maintaining public peace and order and tranquility in view of the forthcoming elections to the AP Legislative Council in respect of Graduates Constituencies.
In a statement, Mr Khan also sought the cooperation of the political parties and the contesting candidates in ensuing strict compliance of the instructions of the Election Commission of India for the orderly regulation of all such events. The contestants must also seek police permission to use loudspeakers as well as mobile publicity.
The police chief also directed all the holders of Arms Licences residing in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad except those issued to persons employed on guard duty in the premises of Nationalised Banks, Public Sector undertakings and security personnel in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, to deposit their weapons with Police Stations concerned or authorized Arms Dealers with immediate effect. The weapons may be taken back by the Licence Holders on or after March 22, after completion of the election process.
