Digital centre for Legislators inaugurated Hyderabad, Feb 25 (INN): Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday inaugurated a digital center for MLAs and the MLCs on the Assembly premises in the presence of the Deputy Speaker N Manohar, Legislative Council Chairman A Chakrapani and IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah.
Speaking at the function, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said that, 'Andhra Pradesh is the first state in the country to digitize the Assembly records and make them available online. It is also the first state to start a training programme for MLC's and MLAs in the Assembly premises round the clock.'
The MLAs and MLCs were given exposure to the e-Governance by officers from the IT and C department and the Government of India and eminent personalities. A digital lab was contemplated and the IT and C department was given the task of creating a computer lab within the assembly premises before the budget sessions.
Within the stipulated period of 3 months, the lab was created in the space allotted by the Deputy Speaker. All Legislators can avail this facility for training, internet browsing, seeing previous proceedings' records which have been uploaded on the internet.
The lab has state of the art computers with high end display monitors with 1 Mbps high speed dedicated internet line. Assembly Secretary Raja Sadaram said that all Assembly records are digitized from 1956 and all video records are digitized from 1996. Principal Secretary of the IT and C department K Ratnaprabha IAS and the other officials were present.
