Lecturers urge police to participate in T stir Hyderabad, Feb 26 (INN): Lecturers from Telangana on Saturday called on all government employees in general and police personnel in particular from the region to give further impetus to the separate statehood agitation by widely participating in the non-cooperation agitation. Speaking to media persons at the Board of Intermediate Education office on Saturday, a group of lecturers who had made their way here to express solidarity with their counterparts protesting in favour of Telangana said that the impact of noncooperation stir would be immediate and profound if the police personnel too follow the example set by the government employees and join in the agitation. Around 2,000 lecturers from across the ten districts of Telangana had gathered here.
Earlier, Telangana Political Joint Action Committee convenor Kodandaram demanded that the government immediately take concrete measures to ensure that Andhra Pradesh is bifurcated. He also said that the TPJAC and TRS activists would lay siege to Hyderabad and also announced that the 'Rail Roko' agitation would begin from March 1. 'I want the government to take concrete initiatives towards carving a separate state, if it continues its delaying tactics, the agitation would be intensified,' Prof Kondandaram warned.
Expressing admiration for the lecturers who had come from across the Telangana region, revolutionary poet Gadar praised the lecturers and said that their dedication to the cause of Telangana will surely help in getting the Centre to give serious thoughts to the demand of separate statehood. He also said that peaceful agitation is the only way forward. Gadar said 'There is no alternative to peaceful agitation for a separate state since several recommendations made by the leaders and people alike have failed to move the Centre.'
