Man beats up adulterous wife, she kills self Hyderabad, March 3 (INN): A 28-year-old woman committed suicide by setting herself ablaze after being beaten up by her husband who suspected her fidelity under Old Alwal limits on Tuesday. According to Sub-inspector K Laxman Rao, the victim has been identified as J Sakkubai (28), wife of J Sreenu, a resident of Ambedkarnagar, Old Alwal. According to police, Sakkubai committed suicide after Sreenu beat her up after he found out about her illicit relationship with one Mahender.
Sakkubai had married Sreenu in 1999 and they have four children. Sreenu was a centering worker and his friend Mahender was in housekeeping work. Sreenu had caught Sakkubai and Mahender in a compromising position on Tuesday and had beaten them up. Mahender fled away from the spot and Sakkubai attempted suicide. She died while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital on Wednesday night. Police registered a case under Section 306 IPC 497.
Lorry knocks down student
Hyderabad, March 3 (INN): A student died when his motorcycle was knocked down by a lorry near Lothkunta under Tirumalgherry police station limits. According to Sub inspector B Narsimhulu, the victim has been identified as K Srikanth (20), a resident of CBN Nagar, Begumpet. The mishap took place when he was heading towards Maruthinagar to Alwal along with his friend A Siddu. Srikanth died while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital and Siddu sustained minor injuries. Police registered a case under Section 304 A IPC.
Painter falls from church, dies
Hyderabad, March 3 (INN): A painter fell to his death from the terrace of a church under the Bolaram police station limits. According to the police, the victim has been identified as G Dharmaiah (30), a resident of Kapra, Rangareddy district. Dharmaiah died when he accidentally fell down from St Ann's Church, Bollaram while painting. Police registered a case under Section 174 CRPC and the body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem.
Bribe-taking auditor nabbed red-handed
Vizianagaram, March 3 (INN): ACB Officials on Tuesday caught red-handed Pentapati Seetharama Murthy, Senior Auditor, District Audit Office, Vizianagaram at his office when he was accepting a bribe of Rs 3000 from the complainant for doing official favour to prepare the pension sanction orders of the complainant's husband and to send the same to the Municipal Commissioner, Bobbili, Vizianagaram District. Seetharama Murthy will be produced before the Court for Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Visakhapatnam.
Asst Surgeon sentenced for graft
Srikakulam, March 3 (INN): The Special Judge for ACB cases, Visakhapatnam convicted Dr S Ramani Bharathi Kumari, formerly Civil Assistant Surgeon, Community Health Centre, Pathapatnam, Srikakulam district and sentenced to undergo simple imprisonment for one year and also to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo one month for the offence Under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The Special Judge further sentenced the accused officer to undergo simple imprisonment for one year and also to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 and in default of payment of fine amount to suffer one month Simple imprisonment for the offences punishable U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of the P.C. Act, 1988. Both the sentences shall run concurrently. Earlier, the ACB officials trapped the officer on Nov 22, 2005 when she was accepting a bribe of Rs 2,500 from the complainant for showing official favour of removing the stitches of daughter of the complainant who underwent Caesarian Operation.
