Advocates try to disrupt Judiciary exams, held Hyderabad, March 6 (INN): Police on Sunday arrested some advocates when they tried to barge in a centre at the Exhibition Grounds at Nampally where examinations for the recruitment of District and Sessions Judges were being conducted. The advocates from Telangana region, under the aegis of Telangana Advocates Joint Action Committee were attempting to disrupt the examination after alleging that there was improper representation in the Judiciary from Telangana.
The High Court, despite calls of boycott from the TAJAC had gone ahead and conducted the examination throughout the state at four centres, namely Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam. Hyderabad Commissioner of Police AK Khan had personally supervised the bandobust at the examination centre at the Exhibition Grounds, after he had earlier on Saturday imposed Section 144 in the city.
According to official information, 67.65 per cent candidates appeared for the examination in Hyderabad. Vijayawada saw 64.74 per cent candidates attending while 65.73 per cent took the examination in Tirupati. Visakhapatnam saw the highest turnout with 72.41 per cent aspirants taking the examination. At the Exhibition Grounds, some Telangana advocates had torn up their hall tickets to register their protest while others had staged a dharna by squatting on the road.
