FIR registered for illegal water connection Hyderabad, March 15 (INN): The vigilance police of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board on Saturday registered a criminal case against a consumer for illegally tapping into the water lines. The Vigilance Police, led by CI B Sri Hari, registered a criminal case against one Hassem Khan Quadri, a resident of Nayeem Nagar in Bahadurpura.
Mr Quadri had taken an illegal water connection for his residence and this was reported to the HMWSSB by a informer. The HMWSSB, in a statement said that it has been receiving complaints from the public about Illegal connections. The names of the complainants have been kept confidential, the HMWSSB said.
The statement added that the Board is acting promptly in disconnecting these Illegal connections and registering criminal cases. Meanwhile, the HMWSSB stated that the water supplied from the Mir Alam Filter may be discoloured, but it is safe to drink.
The Board said that chemical analysis reports do not show any harmful substances in water. Therefore, the consumers can consume the water, as it is not harmful to health, the Board said. The Board added that the water can be boiled and consumed as a precautionary measure.
