Put an end to unauthorised constructions : Mayor Hyderabad, March 16 (INN): Mayor Banda Karthika Chandra Reddy on Wednesday stated that officers concerned will be made responsible for unauthorized structures coming up in their jurisdictions. While holding a meeting with Zonal Commissioners in her chambers on Wednesday, Ms Karthika Reddy said that the action against the officers responsible for unauthorized structures as in Ayyappa Society, Gurukul Trust and Sainagar in West and East Zones would be severe.
While discussing BPS scheme the officers suggested to the Mayor that officers should be given enough time for verification of applications before the applicants are told to pay the required fees. They pointed out that if the BPS fees is paid on the last date, there is always a chance of rejection.
The Mayor told the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation officers that severe action would be initiated on the organizations printing pamphlets and creating litter by carelessly throwing these pamphlets on the roads. She also informed that several organizations were seized and heavy penalties were laid on several institutions in Ameerpet. She also advised officers to place one transit lorry in each circle to lift debris from the roads.
The Mayor said that she would request government to accord permission to GHMC for filling up of posts like ACP, TPS, AE, sanitary supervisors, food inspectors and other field functionaries for the successful functioning of GHMC. After reviewing with Zonal Commissioners, Ms Karthika Reddy said that the amount collected from property tax and trade licenses is more than what it was at the same time last year. She opined that if road wise database is prepared, more establishments would come under collection net and the trade licenses collection would be improved.
During the meeting it was suggested that a survey would be conducted within a cut off date, later it should be a continuous process for updating and tax rates also would be revised. Officers brought to the Mayor's notice that 80 per cent of educational institutions are not paying trade license, saying that they have applied for exemption. The Zonal Commissioners also promised the Mayor that they would accord sanctions to the Corporators' budget before March 31.
The Mayor informed that GHMC would inaugurate Mahila Bhavans' from March 25 and she asked Zonal Commissioners to identify open lands in consultation with local corporators for building new Mahila Bhavans. She also instructed Zonal Commissioners to inspect Citizen Service Centres once in a month. The Mayor also asked the Zonal Commissioners to ensure that the ban on plastics is implemented in major parks.
