Girl set on fire, relatives allege cover up Hyderabad, March 21 (INN): Doubts have been raised by the relatives of a 11-year-old girl who is battling for life in Osmania General Hospital that the police version that she attempted suicide is incorrect.
The relatives of the girl, Yasmeen, disputes the police version, which says that the girl attempted suicide by immolating herself after her parents fought with her neighbours. They claim that the girl's neighbours had barged into her house, beat her up and set her on fire after the fight between them and Yasmeen's parents over a petty issue late on Sunday night under Bahadurpura police station limits.
The girl was rushed to hospital where she is battling for life after receiving 95 per cent burns. Her chances of survival are stated to be grim.
The police however claim that the girl resorted to self-immolation after the tiff between her family and their neighbours. They say that the girl was mentally disturbed over the fight and had taken the extreme step.
The girl's relatives allege that the neighbours had 'managed' the police. When asked to reveal their names, they became visually worried and refused to do so.
