Dandi March II asks for Lokpal Bill and end of corruption Milpitas, March 23rd: New era Gandhi followers marching to San Francisco to end corruption in India.
Mahatma Gandhi marched 240 miles to Dandi, to unshackle India from the clutches of British. Modern India is still in the clutches of corruption. A group of Nonresident Indians (NRI's) in California are emulating the great man in their actions to fight against corruption and to enact 'Jan Lokpal bill'. They are marching 240 miles along the American west coast, to re-invoke the great values Gandhi believed in.
Dandi March II will conclude on March 26 at the Mahatma Gandhi Statue in San Francisco. Hon. Ujjal Dosanjh, Member of Parliament for Vancouver South in Canada will be attending the concluding event. Solidarity walks are being held in Sydney, Hongkong, Finland and more than 50 cities around the world on March 26, the final day of Dandi March II.
So far, Dandi March II completed a total of about 180 miles covering 30 cities in California and entered in Silicon Valley. The six Indians who are walking the full 240 miles have been accompanied on shorter distances by more than 400 walkers in various cities.
Indian organizations like Youth for Better India (YBI), People For Lok Satta, India Against Corruption (IAC), 5th Pillar, Bharat Swabhiman, TANA, Sankara Eye Foundation, Oruma, TASC, Save India From Corruption, Saaku, Life Yessence Accadamy, Jago and Individuals like DR.Prem Sagar Reddy, Navin Chandra Doshi and others have extended their support for the march.
