Vexed Dy Mayor seeks replacement for official vehicle Hyderabad, March 25 (INN): Exasperated over the frequent breaking down of his official car, Deputy Mayor Jaffar Hussain on Friday dashed off a letter to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sameer Sharma, demanding the replacement of his mode of transportation with a more reliable car.
Mr Jaffar Hussain had earlier in the day forced to take an auto-rickshaw after his Scorpio had broken down in the middle of the road while he was on his way to the GHMC head office.
The Deputy Mayor's angst was reflected in his letter in which he reminded the GHMC Commissioner that the official vehicle was involved in near-mishap accident the night earlier after the clutch and brakes failed.
'I am constrained to remind you to replace the official vehicle and this letters is part of a series of such reminders which have been sent to you since the past one year,' the Deputy Mayor pointed out to the GHMC Commissioner.
Mr Jaffar Hussain pointed out that the 'condition of the vehicle is so atrocious, it vibrates terribly and is not running properly. I cannot keep my life at risk traveling in the present vehicle, which is in bad condition. It has lost the balance more often than not undergoing repairs at the company's workshop.'
The Deputy Mayor told the GHMC Commissioner that he could no longer effectively discharge his duties since the vehicle breaks down intermittently.
Accusing the GHMC Commissioner of lacking respect for the office of the Deputy Mayor, Mr Jaffar Hussain said that if the Corporation does not take proper action, anything that may happen to him while travelling in the vehicle will have to be answered by the GHMC Commissioner.
