Newborn dies, relatives protest against negligence Hyderabad, March 30 (INN): Alleging negligence of the nurse on duty at Malakpet Area Government Hospital for the death of an infant, infuriated relatives staged a protest in front of the hospital. The protestors demanded strict action against her.
According to Chadarghat Police Sub-Inspector Md Riyazuddin, Padma (22) wife of Ellaiah, a resident of Amla village in Rangareddy district, was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday morning, after she underwent labour pains.
She was shifted shifted to the operation for a Caesarean procedure after doctors ruled out chances of the baby being delivered naturally. The hospital nurse declared that the male baby was dead after washing him. However Padma's relatives alleged that the infant died due to the nurses' negligence and the child was healthy and physically sound.
The relatives suspect that infant might have suffered head injuries after falling from the hands of nurse accidentally while being washed.
Expressing their anger, the relatives alleged that the doctors and the staff were negligent. They staged dharna at the hospital and lodged a complaint at Chaderghat police station seeking action against hospital staff. Chaderghat police are investigating the case.
