Air Marshal PR Sharma takes charge of Dundigal AFA Hyderabad, April 1 (INN): Air Marshal PR Sharma (AVSM) took over the command of the prestigious Air Force Academy (AFA) Dundigal, Hyderabad from Air Vice Marshal Amit Aneja (AVSM VM VSM) at an impressive ceremony on Friday.
Prior to assuming his present appointment, Air Marshal PR Sharma has served as the Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence Staff at Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, New Delhi. Air Marshal PR Sharma was commissioned in the Indian Air force on February 15, 1975 in fighter stream.
He is a qualified Flying Instructor and a Test pilot and has over 3,000 hours of flying experience in most types of Fighters, Trainers and Transport aircrafts. The Air Officer is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Defence Service Staff College, Wellington and Royal College of Defense Studies, London.
In his career span, Air Marshal PR Sharma has held numerous staff appointments at Air Headquarters and Strategic Forces Command. He has the unique distinction of being the Team leader of the Su-30 aircraft Project team to Moscow.
Some important milestones in his career include Command of Fighter Squadron, Chief Operations Officer of a fighter base, Commandant of the prestigious Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE), Bangalore and Air Officer Commanding of a premier Fighter Base.
Air Force Academy is the premier training institute of the Indian Air Force, where quality training is imparted to trainee officers of flying, technical, administration, logistics, accounts, education and meteorology branches of the Indian Air Force before their commissioning.
