Toll tax rates for ORR use finalised Hyderabad, April 6 (INN): The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has been accorded permission by the state government to tax vehicles plying on the Outer Ring Road which has been opened for public use from March 1, 2011. The HMDA said that the approved toll tax rates are on par with the National Highways Authority of India.
The HMDA said that the Outer Ring Road for a length of 38.63 km from Shamshabad to Pedda Amberpet (on Vijayawada National Highway) has been completed with 8-lanes and Access Controlled features. With the completion of this stretch, a total length of 62 km is available to public connection Vijayawada Road to Gachibowli via Shamshabad.
According to the toll rates given, cars and jeeps would be charged Rs 0.82 per km, LCVs and minibuses would be charged Rs 1.33 per km, buses and trucks would be charged at the rate of Rs 2.79 per km and heavy vehicles like multi-axle trucks (3 to 6 axles) would be charged Rs 4.36 per km.
Heavier trucks with 7 or more axles would be charged at the rate of Rs 5.32 per km. The HMDA said that the toll amount payable will be based on the travel distance and rounded off to nearest ten, for ease of payment.
The toll fee for a car travelling from Gachchibowl to APPA, a distance of 10.5 km, would be Rs 10 for a car and Rs 30 for a truck. Likewise, the distance from Gachchibowli being 22 km, cars would be charged Rs 20 while trucks would be charged Rs 60. The trucks would be charged Rs 170 if they ply between Gachchibowli and Pedda Amberpet, a distance of 62 km, while cars would be charged Rs 50.
Toll Collection is likely to begin in about 90 days, immediately after finalization of tenders, the HMDA said. Meanwhile, the traffic has been allowed in the above stretch from Gachibowli to Pedda Amberpet via Shamshabad for all the 4-wheelers including trucks, from March 1, 2011. However, the toll is chargeable only on the main carriageway. The service roads are non-tolled and will cater to mix traffic.
