Unique house numbering project gathers pace Hyderabad, April 6 (INN): All houses in the twin cities would be provided with unique number plates within a year in a phased manner, while the process would be completed in GHMC Circles No 8 and 9 in about two months.
This was disclosed to media persons by Hyderabad Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy after she chaired a review meeting on the progress of house numbering cell activities in GHMC with concerned officials at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation head office on Wednesday.
Ms Karthika Reddy said that, at present 12 surveyors are working in the core area of GHMC 7 circles and the survey is being carried out by the private agencies in remaining 11 circles. They Mayor said that it was decided to increase the outsourcing surveyors to 50 to speed up the processes so as to complete within one year's time.
The unique number plate depicts the number allotted to a particular house through which it can be identified very easily. The metal plates are in square in shape with blue colour with numbers in white colour which is international standard.
The Government buildings would be displayed with circular plate, while the Heritage monuments will have brass number plates. The numbers would be in sequential order and the numbers will be allotted for even open spaces and huts in slums.
Sign boards would be erected displaying with the names of colonies / streets, number of houses, starting the first number to the last number on that particular lane/road. The meeting was attended by Development, Planning Additional Commissioner Dhanunjaya Reddy and House Numbering Cell Director Satish Chandra.
