Two held for selling fake brown sugar Hyderabad, April 12 (INN): Sleuths of the South Zone Task Force on Tuesday took into custory tow persons on charges of attempting to cheat drug addicts of Rs 10 lakh by passing off a white powder as brown-sugar, a sought after narcotic substance.
The two men have been identified as Rayees Khan alias Aankhen and Pathan Ikthiyar Khan. According to police, Rayeez Khan is native of Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh and Pathan Ikthiyar Khan hailing from Kutch in Gujarat state. The police also recovered 400 gm of white powder and two daggers from their possession.
During interrogation, the accused Rayees Khan and Pathan Khan revealed that they both are the drivers working with Neeta Travels, Borivali of Mumbai. They further revealed that their friend Ashraf a car driver from Gujarat came to Mumbai and gave them one white powder which resemble with brown sugar. Ashraf suggested to them that they could sell the powder as brown sugar for Rs 10 lakh and take a good commission in the process.
They came to Hyderabad in their company service and purchased two daggers at Kishan Bagh, Bahadurpura, and kept along with them as self-defense and so as to threaten if anyone challenged the genuineness of the white powder and if anyone tries to catch them.
On Monday evening while they were trying to strike a deal about the sale of the powder near Salar Jung Museum, the police apprehended them. The arrested accused and seized property were handed over to SHO Mirchowk Police Station for further investigation.
