6 from AP die in bus mishap at Sholapur Hyderabad: Six passengers, all hailing from the state, were killed in a major road accident involving an AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus and a stationary lorry near Sholapur in Maharashtra in the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to reports reaching here, the victims are from Rangareddy and Mahabubnagar districts who migrated to Sholapur for livelihood. They were returning to their native places to celebrate Srirama Navami when the mishap took place.
According to RTC officials, six passengers were killed on the spot while 13 others were injured. The injured were undergoing treatment in the nearby hospital. 'The condition of two passengers is said to be critical,' RTC Rangareddy regional manager Vinod said. Officials said the accident took place when the bus was coming from Mumbai to Tandur.
The bus rammed into a stationary sand lorry which was parked on the road following a break down. The deceased were identified as Ashappa (29), Kanya Sri (9) and Ambuja (50) of Mahabubnagar district and Adivappa (40) of Ganded in Rangareddy district. Two other deceased are yet to be identified.
RTC announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5,000 to kin of the dead and free medical aid to the injured.
