Mayor suggest options to Cell tower companies Hyderabad, April 18 (INN): Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy on Monday put forth two proposals before the Cell Towers Company managements to drop the cases against the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation after the managements has approached Court saying Rs Rs one lakh installation charges are very high. Because of this, the GHMC could not collect installation charges from Cell Tower Companies since 2008.
The Mayor after holding a review meeting with Cell Towers Company managements and Regulatory Planning Department Officials of GHMC, has put forward that the Cell Towers Company managements can either pay an amount of Rs 75,000 (Rs 50,000 as installation charges and Rs 25,000 as Engineering fee for structural stability analysis), instead of Rs one lakh or pay Rs 50,000 as installation charges and Rs 10,000 every year as renewal charges. They are given time up to May 1 to decide on the proposals.
Ms Karthika Reddy also informed the managements that the GHMC has appointed consultants for assessing the structural stability of building on which cellular Towers are erected / to be erected and as per their survey report 198 structures are found unsafe.
The Mayor warned cell tower companies not to erect any more unauthorized towers, until the settlement of the above issue and it will be viewed seriously.
