Two crushed as hospital arch falls on van Hyderabad, April 19 (INN): At least two people were killed on the spot while another was left with grievous injuries when an arch of a government hospital fell on the DCM van in which they were travelling in the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to Inspector Muttaiah, the mishap took place when the out-of-control DCM van, loaded with chocolates, hit the arch on the gate of the Sangareddy Government Hospital. The arch collapsed due to the impact and fell on the cabin of the DCM van.
The two occupants in the cabin, Prabasbhai Salem (30) and Sarfaroz Khan (35) were crushed to death on the spot. One more person, K Singh, who was travelling in the back of the van was left with grievous injuries.
Mr Muttiah revealed that the DCM van was heading towards Hyderabad from Ahmedabad. He also said that a crane had to be pressed into service to remove the heavy arc from atop the van's cabin to retrieve the bodies.
Meanwhile, K Singh has been admitted to the same hospital and is said to be stable. His colleagues' bodies were shifted for autopsies. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
