DCM mows down two women labourers Hyderabad, April 20 (INN): Two women labourers were killed on the spot when an out-of-control DCM van ran over them from behind at Bachupalli Crossroads, Qutubullapur in Ranga Reddy district in the wee hours of Wednesday.
According to Sub-Inspector Madhusudhan, the victims were identified as Podila Swapna (24), daughter of Gopi and Pandiri Archana (21) daughter of Balaiah, who were cousins.
The mishap took place early on Wednesday morning when they were walking to their work site in the city from home when the driver of a DCM van lost control over his vehicle. He rammed the vehicle into the two labourers from behind, crushing them to death on the spot.
The driver of the van ran away from the spot leaving the vehicle behind, before the police arrived. The victims' bodies were shifted to autopsies. A case has been registered and further investigations are on. According to Mr Madhusudhan, the driver has been identified and the police are hopeful of arresting him soon.
