Parental opposition drives lovers to end lives
Khammam, April 20 (INN): Faced with stiff opposition from their parents over their love affair since they belonged to difference castes, two lovers consumed poison and ended their lives at Shivai Gudem village in Khammam district early on Wednesday.
According to Khanapur Haveli Sub-Inspector Raghu, 22-year-old Madan Lal and his 19-year-old beloved Koti Nagalakshmi had been in love since the past two years.
Their affair was however opposed by their families who strongly resisted their desire to get married. Madan Lal's father Gona and Nagalakshmi's father Nageshwar had tried to convince their children to marry in their own castes and found matches for them.
On Wednesday morning, the two lovers met on the village outskirts and took the extreme step of ending their lives by consuming poison. Their bodies were found by the villagers who shifted the bodies to Government Hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
