Two children die in wall collapse Hyderabad, April 20 (INN): Two children were crushed to death when a wall collapsed on them while they were asleep in the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday at Gattu Palli village, Maheshwaram mandal in Ranga Reddy district.
According to Inspector Chandrasekhar, the victims were identified as Satish (6), son of Malaiah, who was a resident of Gattupalli village and his cousin Chinnamma (4), daughter of Venkataiah, a resident of Shivampet Mandal in Medak district.
The children were sleeping in the Malaiah's hut built on an open land in Gattupalli when the wall on the neighbouring property, soaked due to the rains which had lashed the area intermittently collapsed.
The debris smashed through the thatched hut and crushed the sleeping children. Incidentally, Venkataiah was on a visit to his brother Malaiah and had stayed overnight since it was raining heavily.
The distraught parents tried to save their children's lives by removing the debris, but to no avail. The children had died on the spot. Police registered a case and shifted bodies to hospital for autopsies.
