Four dead in separate road mishaps across state Hyderabad, April 23 (INN): At least four persons were killed and 44 others suffered injuries in three road accidents which occurred separately across the state on Saturday.
At least two persons were killed on the spot and five other suffered grievous injuries when an auto-rickshaw collided with a lorry at Pandithapuram village, Kamepalli mandal in Khammam district on Saturday.
According to Sub-Inspector Srinivas, the mishap occurred when auto-rickshaw which was heading towards Manchukonda from Mucherala collided with a speeding lorry proceeding towards Illendu from Khammam.
The mishap left Sudhakar (30) and other unidentified person dead on the spot. Five others also received injuries in this accident. The police reached the spot and shifted the victims to hospital for treatment. The injured are stated to be in a stable condition.
In another incident, a middle-aged woman was killed on spot while 20 other persons suffered injuries at Bandlapalli village, Putalapattu mandal in Chittoor district.
The mishap occurred when the driver of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation bus lost control over the vehicle and hit a tree beside the road. The impact left Chinnakka (55), wife of Chamanna dead on the spot. The injured are being treated at a local hospital.
In another mishap, a 50-year-old man was killed on spot while 19 others suffered injuries at Vankataramannagudem village, Tadepalligudem mandal in West Godavari district when a van collided head-on with a speeding lorry. The mishap occurred late on Friday night.
According to Sub-Inspector Rajashekar, the victim was identified as Durga Rao, a resident of Nagulagudem in Jangareddygudem. The van was heading towards Perupalem beach from Nagulagudem when the mishap took place at Vankataramannagudem village.
Mr Rajashekar told INN that Durga Rao died on the spot while two others received grievous injuries. They were being given treatment at a hospital at Eluru. Two others who received minor injuries were discharged after first-aid. Police have registered cases in all the cases. Investigations are on.
