'Sex Worker' attacked for Anklets HYDERABAD: A woman, believed to be a sex worker, who resisted a man from stealing her silver anklets, after both got high on toddy, was mercilessly attacked -- the person picked up a stone and attacked her repeatedly on her ankles -- and made away with the anklets while the woman was hospitalised and her condition is said to be serious. The gruesome incident took place at Shamshabad on Friday.
The victim was identified as A Padma, a resident of Kandipalli village in Shamshabad, while the identity of the accused has not been established yet.
According to Shamshabad police, Padma went to Shadnagar to work as a labourer at a construction site yesterday morning. After returning to Kandipalli village last night, she had toddy with an unknown person. Later, the accused asked Padma to hand over her silver anklets.
'When she refused, he picked up a stone and repeatedly hit on her ankles in his bid to break the anklets. Later, he took away both the anklets cutting her legs from ankles. Before fleeing, he also removed her ear tops and fled from the location,' police said.
The victim, in an unconscious state, was seen lying in bushes by a maulavi of a local mosque in a pool of blood and with detached limbs. Soon he alerted police who shifted her to OGH.
Padma, in her statement to the police, could only recall that the person asked her to give the anklets and later she lost consciousness after she was repeatedly attacked. 'Padma's condition is said to be critical as she lost lot of blood,' police said. The victim said she can recognise the miscreant.
