Flash stir by Air India pilot, passengers stranded Hyderabad, April 27 (INN): Flight services to and from Hyderabad were affected with many flights running behind schedule following a flash strike called by a section of Pilots Union of Air India from midnight of Tuesday. According to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport sources, six flights have been cancelled due to the flash strike.
Three flights running between Hyderabad-Mumbai and Hyderabad- Bangalore in the morning hours were cancelled. Two flights runs between Hyderabad-Pune and Hyderabad-New Delhi were also cancelled, a statement issued by the RGIA, Shamshabad said.
The morning flight service between New Delhi and Hyderabad was also affected causing much inconvenience to the passengers. Several other Air India flights are reportedly running upto three hours late. The domestic pilots launched the strike demanding wage parity with Air India pilots.
Meanwhile, the management of the airline has de-recognised The Indian Commercial Pilots' Association (ICPA), sealed its offices in Mumbai and Delhi. It also declared the strike as illegal. The President and General Secretary of the union were dismissed, along with another four pilots who have been sacked. Two others have been suspended.
