Missing city girl found murdered in Vijayawada Hyderabad, April 29 (INN): Jeedimetla police on Friday arrested two students in connection with the death of a sixth class student Bhavani, who has been missing since the past ten days.
According to Inspector Sanjeev Reddy, the two students, Pappu and Srikanth are accused of pushing the girl Bhavani (14) into the River Krishna off the Krishna Barrage in Vijayawada. Bhavani's body was found at Thadepalli in Guntur district, after being dragged by the swirling waters.
Bhavani, daughter of Panga Yadagiri and Shashikala, was a student of Sai Vidyaniketan School in Sanjay Gandhi Nagar in Jeedimetla. She had gone with Pappu and his friend Srikanth to Krishna district on April 21. Pappu told the police that he had taken the help of Bhavani's friend Sirisha to call her from her home and she had accompanied him willingly.
Bhavani, at the time of leaving her residence, had told her parents that she was going to attend the birthday party of one of her friends. Later, she, along with Pappu and his friend Srikanth had gone to Tirupati and proceeded to Vijayawada from there on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Bhavani's parents lodged a complaint that their daughter was missing. The police had gone to Pappu's residence and questioned his parents as she was known to be friendly with him. When Pappu called his home, his parents told him to return.
However, Bhavani refused to return, saying that she would be scolded by her parents. An argument between the two took place at the Krishna Barrage. Pappu told the police that during the argument, he pushed Bhavani in a fit of anger and she fell into the river.
Pappu and Srikanth later returned to Hyderabad. By then Bhavani's body had been discovered at Thadepalli. Pappu had initially claimed that Bhavani fell into the river by accident, but sustained interrogation made him reveal the truth, the police said. Police registered a case and further investigations are on.
