Six killed in road mishap Vizianagaram, May 1 (INN): At least six persons were killed and ten others received injuries when the jeep in which they were travelling hit a roadside tree at Atchutapuram village in Gurla mandal of Vizianagaram district.
According to Sub-Inspector MK Naidu, the victims were identified as Vasudeva Naidu (21), M Appra Rao (30), M Aparna (2), R Ramesh(28), S Sai (6), S Vijaya (30), Swapna and Appiyamma.
Mr Naidu said that the mishap took place when the right tyre of the jeep in which they were travelling burst, leading the vehicle to go out of control. The jeep veered to the left and hit a roadside tree.
This impact left two of the vehicle's occupants dead on the spot while four others breathed their last while undergoing treatment in a hospital they were rushed to.
Two others are battling for life in hospital. Another eight persons received minor injuries in the mishap. Police reached the spot on getting information and started investigations. The bodies have been shifted for autopsies. A case has been registered.
